The first ten pictures were taken July 15 in the alkali flat that used to be Spring Lake.

These flowers grow on stems that look like they get to about 8-12 inches, but they don't stand up, they lay along the ground.

In just a couple of weeks, the bloom went from a scattering to a blanket of color and a handful of flowers have gone to seed.

There were hardly any blooms left in the salt flat by this time.
