Small-headed spotted knapweed Centaurea Stoebe syn Centaurea rhenana DANGER!! and a BLM Call	aka centaurée maculée, centaurée tachetée; Rispige Flockenblume, G. Kleinköpfige Rispen-Flockenblume, Steppen-Flockenblume, chaber nadrenski	The first 12 pictures were taken July 6.	I don't know if the soil is alkaline or not, but it certainly is arid. These guys get no water except for the dew and any rain.	These guys were growing in a vacant spot between a fence and the street just off Biehn St.

I grabbed a stalk and was most pleased with the firmness of it. When I broke the branch, I had no trouble finding bast fiber.	The interesting thing about this little beauty is it appears the pith may also yield excellent fiber.	This and the next seven pictures were taken August 4.	The flowers are well into bloom and a few are just beginning to set seed.
