Littlebells polemonium
Polemonium micranthum
aka Annual Jacob's-Ladder, Annual Polemonium, Annual Sky-pilot, Small Jacob's ladder
This is an early spring flower. Rosettes appeared in early February.
This is what they look like in early March.
They grow prolifically in my yard around the juniper tree in the wash where all the star moss is. They like spots where the soil is kept moist and cool and like partial shade. The prefer the morning sun.
This is around late February/early March.
You can see by the juniper berry how small these flowers can be in less than optimum soil!
I found a website that calls these Sticky Phacelia
Phacelia glandulifera
I was unable to find any further confirmation of this claim.
.
Once the winter moisture bakes from the soil, these just dry up. By May, you can't even see this much!!
