Poisonous |

aka Pigweed, White Goosefoot, Dirty Dick, Wild Spinach,
Dirtweed, Fat Hen, Smooth Pigweed, Mealweed, Frost Blite, and Bacon Weed. |

Found on Klamath Reserve in damp, rich, alkaline soil between a canal and a
waterway. Companion plants: Giant Reed, Teasel. |

This and the next three pictures were taken April 24. I thought they were different
from the plants in the first seven pictures. |

Anyhow, it looks like they're the same plant. I suspect it may be lambquarters, but
will have to wait for a little more growth. |

This is what the area looks like. Dry soil, but not arid. Between two canals,
alkaline, rich. |

I broke the stem to assess whether or not lambsquarter would make good paper. I
would say yes, definitely the bast. |

It's possible the interior may turn to mush when harvested green. The entire stem
will be useful once it has turned brown. |
