By the second week of May, many of the blooms are open and many plants are still just
reaching the bud stage. |

During a dry year the "blephies" are rarely branched and only get about 4-5
inches high. |

This and the next picture were taken in a year where we had an abundance of rain. |

The color was richer, the plants were multi-branched, and were about 6-8 inches
tall. |

Found on hillside between Highway 97 and Link River. I found another patch in the
open area behind the Winema Nat'l Forest offices. |

By June 20, almost all the flowers have gone to seed and the majority have turned brown. |

Early August found the occasional gasping, determined bloom. I took this and the next
picture on August 28. |

There are no survivors left at all and I had to look carefully to make sure these were not
Lagophyllas. |
