By the second week of May, many of the blooms are open and many plants are still just reaching the bud stage.

During a dry year the "blephies" are rarely branched and only get about 4-5 inches high.

This and the next picture were taken in a year where we had an abundance of rain.

The color was richer, the plants were multi-branched, and were about 6-8 inches tall.

Found on hillside between Highway 97 and Link River. I found another patch in the open area behind the Winema Nat'l Forest offices.

By June 20, almost all the flowers have gone to seed and the majority have turned brown.

Early August found the occasional gasping, determined bloom. I took this and the next picture on August 28.

There are no survivors left at all and I had to look carefully to make sure these were not Lagophyllas.
