treasure2.gif (34146 bytes) "Treasure"
by Sunni Bergeron

Sculpted with polymer clays: A mixture of Fimo colored translucents, Sculpey translucent and 24K gold leaf layered, then sliced thinly in the "Mokume Gane" style and applied over a sculpture formed from a dark skin tone clay. The face of the mother and babe are thin slices of white translucent Fimo with 24K gold leaf mixed in randomly.

This sculpture was inspired by the PolymerClay Central monthly contest. The single word was "Treasure" and was left open completely for the artist's interpretation. I immediately envisioned an avante garde mother and babe. While it didn't come out of my fingers exactly as I'd "seen" it, I am not displeased with the end product.

The background on this page is made of little squares taken from a picture of the back of the sculpture and pieced together in jigsaw fashion.
