Between August 2004 and March 2005 the Klamath Falls Airport in Klamath Falls, Oregon revamped its terminal and passenger waiting area. There are several large walls and a bank of floor to ceiling windows designed to hold the artwork of several different organizations. One wall - which is the only wooden panelled one - is for Klamath Art Association, another for the local schools, one for the 803 Gallery and the windows for the stained glass artisans. I am proud to be the first artisan to hang in this new facility in 2005. The lighting is incredible. There are huge amounts of natural lighting pouring through banks of windows from ceiling to knee level as well as spot lighting to highlight areas on the walls. When I photographed my paper hanging from the wall, it was completely unnecessary for me to correct the photography!
I was asked by Beth Griggs, the liaison in the Klamath Art Association with the Klamath Falls Airport to show my paper artwork last year, but was delayed due to the renovation. My show lasted through the month of May.
This is the entire wall shown at a glance.
These pieces are my own photography digitally manipulated on my computer then mounted on paper made with cattail and corn husk. Two of them are hung from juniper branches.
This piece, "Pockets," is made with two different papers. The light paper is bleached nettles while the dark paper is unbleached bur reed.
This piece, "Path of Whimsy," is a free form mosaic made with polymer clay and hung with Artistic Wire from a juniper branch.
This piece, "Sisters," is made with three different papers. The bowl is stinging nettle, the nest the sisters are in is bleached cattail fluff while the faces are recycled cotton.
This piece, "Tree of Life," is made from recycled magazine pages mounted on water color paper and framed with natural juniper branches.
Two wall sconces made with Corkscrew Willow and kozo/gampi paper.
